What is tarte™’s return policy?

You can return new or gently used items purchased within 30 days* of delivery. A $5 return handling fee will be deducted from your refund. Only one return or exchange is allowed per order. If you’re returning multiple items, please pack them together in one box using the same return. Exchanges are free. Final sale items are not eligible for return or exchange.

Why is tarte™ charging a $5 return fee?

We’re always working to keep our products as affordable as possible. The $5 return fee helps cover the rising costs of return shipping. This allows us to continue offering free shipping promotions, good-for-you ingredients, and cruelty-free formulas without raising prices across the board.

How do I return an item I bought on the website?

Start your return here. You’ll need your order number and email address. Pack your items in one box, attach the prepaid label, and drop it off at USPS. Return requests must be made within 30 days of delivery.

Can I return items from multiple orders in one box?

No. Items from different orders must be returned separately. Each order requires its own return label and package. Combining items from multiple orders into one box may delay or prevent your refund. If you’re returning multiple items from the same order, you can pack them together in one box using the same return label.

Can I use my own return shipping method?

No. To ensure we can track and process your return correctly, you must use the prepaid return label provided through our returns portal. Returns shipped with other carriers may not be processed or refunded.

Where do I drop off my return?

Drop your package at any USPS location. We recommend doing so within 14 days of receiving your return label to avoid delays

When will I get my refund?

Once your return is scanned at warehouse, your refund—minus the $5 fee—will be processed within 1–2 business days. It may take 7–10 business days for the refund to appear on your original payment method, depending on your bank or payment provider.

Can I return items I bought from another store?

No. We only accept returns for items purchased directly on our website. If you bought a tarte™ product from a retail partner, please contact that retailer directly for their return policy.

What if my return label expired or I need a new one?

Return labels are valid for 28 days. If yours expired or isn’t working, contact our customer service , we’ll send a new one.

Can I return an international order?

We’re unable to accept returns for orders shipped outside the U.S. or Puerto Rico. If your international order was damaged or incorrect, contact us, we’re happy to help.

What are my return rights as an EU or UK customer?

If you’re shopping with us from the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving your order. This is sometimes called the “cooling-off period,” and it’s here to make sure you feel confident when shopping online.

To cancel your order, simply reach out to our Customer Service team within 14 days of delivery and include your order number.

How returns work for EU & UK cancellations

If you choose to withdraw from your purchase:

  • We’ll refund the full price you paid for the item(s)
  • We’ll refund standard shipping costs (if any)
  • You’ll be responsible for arranging and paying for your own return shipping
  • Please return the item(s) to the address we provide

Refunds will be issued to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving your cancellation request or once we receive your returned goods (whichever comes first!).

A quick note about beauty products 

We love giving you makeup + skincare you can feel great about! Because of health and hygiene regulations, we’re unable to accept returns of any beauty products that have been opened, swatched, used, or unsealed after delivery. Returned items must be in their original, unopened, unused condition.

This doesn’t affect your statutory rights — it just keeps everyone safe and sparkly.

What if my item arrived damaged or I received the wrong item?

We’re so sorry about that! Visit our returns & exchanges portal and select “product was damaged” or “received the wrong item” as the reason for your return. We’ll take it from there.
